About Me

Test Valley Textiles is the brainchild of Patricia Ireland.

Patricia started to learn her sewing skills at school and on leaving worked for Triumph International in Swindon. Here she excelled in her accuracy and speed on the sewing machine. During the following years Patricia continued to use her skills making her own, family and friends clothes.

When Patricia moved to Andover in 1996 she worked as a home worker for Dormy House, provided an alteration service for a local dry cleaners and serviced a small number of private clients.

Deciding to follow her childhood dream of teaching, Patricia returned to full time education as a mature student attending Cricklade Collage on an access course. After gaining the necessary entrance qualifications she was accepted onto a BA Hons course in Textiles for fashion at Portsmouth University. This 3 year course saw her study Printing, Knitting, Weaving (Specialised in 2nd & 3rd Years), Business Studies, Italian and Fashion Design. She graduated in 2001 with 1st Class Honours and was given an award for her constructed textiles.
Patricia then attended Bath Spa University on a 2 year Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for Primary & Secondary teaching. This gained her all the necessary skills to teach all areas of Design & Technology.

After gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) she worked in a local secondary school until summer 2015.

Patricia now wishes to use her textile and teaching skills to provide a quality service to her clients.

On 8th June 2018 Test Valley Textiles merged with Burleys Bridal Boutique.
